HEPASilent® technology

Blueair's HEPASilent® technology filters at least 99.7% of all airborne particles down to a minimum size of 0.1 micrometers, kills germs and, thanks to the combination of electrostatic and mechanical filter technology, achieves particularly high performance and efficiency. This combination delivers a high Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) with whisper-quiet operation and high energy efficiency. In fact, a Rotasystem Blueair air purifier works so quietly that not only can you easily sleep next to it, but there are times when you need to look carefully to know if it is on at all. In addition, Rotasystem Blueair air purifiers use less power than a light bulb at the lowest operating level.

Our air purifiers not only take up harmful airborne viruses and bacteria, our proprietary HEPASilent® technology even kills pathogens. Internal tests showed that> 99% of all germs were killed by the air purifiers of the Blueair Classic family **, so that bacteria and viruses were no longer viable and could therefore no longer multiply.

2 Technologies make the difference?

With the HEPASilent® technology from Rotasystem Blueair, airborne particles are electrically charged before they reach the filter. This makes it easier for the particles to adhere to the polypropylene fibers in the filter due to electrostatic forces. This allows the use of a less dense filter that allows larger amounts of air to pass through, resulting in less noise and lower energy consumption.


Since a lower filter density is required due to the stronger adhesion of the charged particles, the filter clogs less easily. As a result, the filter performance remains in the peak range for a longer period of time with high efficiency.

How do air filters work?

In a Rotasystem Blueair filter, ultra-thin polypropylene fibers of different sizes and layers are interwoven in order to be able to fix particles. Once they have been fixed, the particles are never released into the ambient air again - not even when the filter is heavily used. The filters trap larger particles such as pollen, dust and pet dander, but also smaller particles such as microplastic particles and smoke.
Since polypropylene prevents the growth of bacteria, our filters also prevent the formation of bacteria and mold in the air purifier.

When filters should be replaced (about every six months) all you have to do is open the lid, take out the old filter and insert the new filter. No screws, hooks or tools are required. Everything is done in less than a minute. Another advantage is that Rotasystem Blueair filters do not require additives and do not need to be washed. In addition, polypropylene is a very environmentally friendly plastic that, when properly disposed of, breaks down into carbon dioxide and water.
How exactly does the HEPASilent® technology work?

  • The quiet fan sucks air into the air purifier.
  • Particles in the air become electrically charged so that they stick to the polypropylene filters more quickly and easily.
  • Viruses and bacteria are put out of action by the combination of electrical charge and strong, high air currents.
  • Since the charged particles were more likely to adhere to the fibers of the filter, a lower filter density is required. Because of the lower density, the fan can push more air through the filter with less pressure, less noise and less energy consumption. A lower density also reduces the clogging of the filter.
